Gîtes la Pépite is located in a rural area, in a hamlet surrounded by nature at the foot of the Morvan and close to Canal du Nivernais.
Below an impression of the surroundings.
Nature and sights
The gîte is located at the foot of the Morvan, 2 kilometers from the Canal du Nivernais. The immediate area is perfect for walking or cycling along the beautiful Canal du Nivernais. Then visit the village of Chatillon en Bazois, 5 kilometers from the gîte. You will find a supermarket, petrol station, bakery, pharmacy, GP, café and the local market. Are you by bike? Then it is a lovely trip along the canal.
In Alluy (5 km) you will find a well-regarded restaurant where the refined cuisine is pleasing to the senses and where you can relax in the cosy courtyard. Closer to the gîte you can go to Chez Ginette. You can walk there in just a few minutes. You will be surprised by the simple yet tasty meals prepared with fresh vegetables and local produce.
Slighty further away
The Etang du Merle is 16 kilometers from the gîte. It is a nice place to swim and has beautiful surroundings.
“L’échelle des 16 écluses”, or the ladder of 16 locks in the Canal de Nivernais, can be visited by car. But it is even more fun to rent a whisper boat in Baye (15 km) and sail there. The route goes through a kind of mangrove area and passes several tunnels.
The Morvan (starts 15 km from the gîte) is a beautiful regional natural park in Burgundy. It is a mountainous area where you can still find real untouched nature. The landscape is characterided by mountains, hills, vast forests, blue lakes and babbling rivers.
If you want to go a little further, the Lac du Pannecière in the Morvan is recommended (approx. 30 km). This reservoir has a length of 7.5 km and is located in a quiet, peaceful area between wooded hills. Because motorised boats are not allowed, it is popular with fishermen and other holidaymakers.
